Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Pathology at the University of the Free State (UFS)
Dr. Krishnan Anand is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Pathology at the University of the Free State (UFS), renowned for his expertise in extracellular vesicle (EV) research. Dr. Anand has recently co-authored the latest guidelines for EV research published by the Journal of Extracellular Vesicles. As an experienced and well-known researcher, he proof-checked, validated, and approved these guidelines framed by the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV).
This significant project, coordinated by the ISEV, spanned three years and included contributions from 1,051 authors across 53 countries. The resulting document, titled “Minimal information for studies of extracellular vesicles (MISEV2023): From basic to advanced approaches,” was published in February and offers researchers a comprehensive overview of current methodologies, including their benefits and limitations, for the production, separation, and characterization of EVs from diverse sources such as cell culture, body fluids, and solid tissues. Dr. Anand’s contribution underscores his pivotal role in advancing the field of EV research.
