Dr M.Senthilkumar is a Scientist (Hydrogeologist) in Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India, since 2003. He is an expert in groundwater and environmental modeler and his areas of interests are Hydraulics, Groundwater flow & solute transport modeling, and environmental hydrogeology. He has worked on several projects of Aquifer mapping, Seawater intrusion, groundwater sustainability, Remote Sensing, GIS and management issues in hard rock regions of South India and devising groundwater management strategies in basaltic regions of Gujarat. He has several publications in the reputed international, national journals and book chapters. He has authored two manuals which has formed the guidelines/protocol for aquifer mapping and is followed by Central and State water agencies. He has visited several countries like Japan, Scotland, Ireland and England and is a JICA awardee. Dr.M.Senthilkumar was recently conferred with the National Geosciences Award for his outstanding achievement in the field of groundwater exploration. He received the award from His Excellency the President of India Sh.Pranab Mukherjee on 6th April 2015.
