Title of the Talk: Development Mathematical Model for the Assessment of Water Quality Variations Due to Emerging Contaminants
Prof. M Kumarasamy is Associate Professor and Programme Coordinator of Civil Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in Durban, South Africa. He holds a PhD in Water Resources Development from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and has taught various subjects, including fluid mechanics, hydrology, and environmental pollution control. His research focuses on water quality modelling, solute transport, climate change, and biofilm growth in water distribution systems. He has published in high-impact journals and supervised several PG students. His professional affiliations include memberships in the Indian Association for Hydrologists and the South African Institute of Civil Engineering. He has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout his career. Notable among these are the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) Research Productivity Fund awards for several years, recognising his contributions to research excellence. He was also awarded the JW Nelson Research Fund multiple times. Additionally, Prof. Kumarasamy has been recognized as the Best Lecturer in Civil Engineering at UKZN in 2013 and 2017. He has received international project grants and Erasmus+ staff mobility funds.
