Title of the Talk: The African Water Vision 2025 and its Relevance to Environmental Sustainability in Rural Kenya
Prof. Chris Shisanya is a Full Professor of Climatology in the Department of Geography at Kenyatta University. He has served in various positions at Kenyatta University over the last 33 years of service. He has been Dean School of Humanities and Social Sciences (8 years), Chairman of the Department of Geography (4 years), and Acting DVC in various portfolios, among many other responsibilities. He is a Fellow of the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Studies (STIAS). He is currently the coordinator of the EU-Funded Intra Africa ACADEMY Mobility Project. His current areas of research interest include climate change and adaptation, Climate change and human development, climate change and security, integrated soil fertility management, integrated watershed management, water-food-energy nexus intersection, and systems analysis. He is a prolific researcher having won over 50 national and international research grant awards in the last twenty years. He has over the last 30 years supervised 25 PhD and over 150 Masters (MSc. & MA) students to completion. He has over 100 peer-reviewed Journal publications and 15 book titles to his credit. He serves on Editorial Boards of various high-impact Academic Scientific Journals.
