Professor M. P. Jonathan

Dr. Jonathan is a Professor in National Polytechnic Institute in Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Environment and Development located in the heart of Mexico City, Mexico. He is also a member of prestigious Mexican National Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT). Under his leadership, he has graduated eighteen Master´s and eight doctorate students. Academically, at present he is the coordinator of the Ph.D program (Doctorate Studies in Landscape Conservation & Management) in his research institute. He has been actively working in the field of “Environmental Geochemistry” mainly dealing with the metal cycling in water, sediment and air environments. He has also commenced a Worldwide program called the “Blue Flag Beaches: Vision 2030” which deals with generation of base line data set on geochemical composition/ enrichment of elements and Microplastics in tourist beaches from different parts of the world. Till now he has authored nearly 131 research articles in reputed international Journals in the field of Environmental Geochemistry in aquatic regions. To his credit, he was the Organizing Committee Member of the World Sustainable Forum 2018 in Mexico, which was attended by Political leaders and policy makers from around the World.

 He has been instrumental in organizing nearly Nineteen leading scientific sessions/conferences in important conferences like American Geophysical Union, Geological Society of America and other forums/Universities in Asian countries. He is also a member of American Geophysical Union and Geological Society of America. To his credit he was awarded in 2017 the “Sir CV Raman Professorship” by University of Madras, which is awarded to researchers with good academic and research record during his past tenure. He is also an Editorial Member of leading Research Journal Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, Environmental Pollution and is reviewer in many leading journals by Elsevier and Springer Publications.
